What you get

ShiftStage is an iOS app and a macOS agent that let you work on your own Mac from your own iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Using one Mac on your local network is free and requires no account.

Subscription

A subscription opens two things: the outside path through our relay nodes, and a second Mac. It does not unlock features inside the app — everything the app does on a local network, it does without a subscription.

Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the amount in your local currency, which may differ with exchange rates and local taxes.

Renewal and cancellation

The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours before each renewal. Cancel any time in the App Store — Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period continues to its end.

If a trial is running and you subscribe, the unused part of the trial is forfeited, as Apple's rules require.

Refunds

Purchases are made through the App Store, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. We cannot issue a refund ourselves, because we never receive the payment.

Your own node

You may run your own relay node, and the app will use it without a subscription. The node is provided as it is: you run it on your machine, you pay for its bandwidth, and you keep it up to date. We do not administer it and cannot see it.

What you are responsible for

• The Mac you connect to and everything on it. The app gives your phone the same reach you already have at that keyboard; it does not add authority, and it does not check what you do with it.
• Keeping your devices and your Apple ID secure. Anyone holding an unlocked, paired device can reach the Mac it is paired with.
• Complying with the law and with any agreements covering the code and systems you reach through the app.

What we do not promise

The app is provided without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. Connections depend on networks we do not control; relay nodes may be unavailable; a Mac that is asleep, locked or offline cannot be reached. None of this is a defect of the app, and it does not entitle you to a refund outside Apple's rules.

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid for the subscription in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

These terms may change. Material changes are announced in the app before they take effect; continuing to use a subscription after that means the new terms apply. The date at the top of this page always matches the version in force.

Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it and cancelling the subscription in the App Store. We may end access for a subscriber who uses the service to attack it or others — and in that case the unused part of the paid period is refundable through Apple.
